Bonus Incentive Program is a contract offered at Olympus Starbase.

Story[]

Since GalSpan is taking a risk by expanding into the Fringe, they must ensure their new recruits are worthwhile investments. While the corporation is wealthy, its funds are not unlimited.

Tricia Bales offers Jake Logan the opportunity to prove himself yet again in an incentive program designed to measure pilot speed and performance in a combat exercise. He will compete against Lakita Ramos, another recent recruit, in seeing who can destroy four waves of combat drones first and return to base.

Logan gets his first taste of just how competitive GalSpan pilots are when two of Ramos's companions, her "sisters," do a hit and run on him in Apollo Research, more so to rattle him than to kill, before they flee the sector.

In Nereus Research, Ramos is less than pleased to meet him, confident in her skills and disgusted by the idea of losing to a man. Despite her predisposition, Logan clears out his drones before her and accelerates back to base, brushing past Ramos's sisters again in Apollo Research. Logan doesn't wait to see if they are truly willing to kill him. He has a well-paid future riding on this mission, and Ramos's Pegasus gains on him faster than he likes.

Logan is the first to make it back to Olympus, winning just barely as Ramos yells with frustration into comm. GalSpan relegates Ramos to wingman duty, meaning whenever Logan so chooses, her skills are his for hire.

Strategy[]

Breakdown[]

  1. Proceed to Nereus Research Sector.
  2. Destroy 8 combat drones.
  3. Beat Lakita Ramos back to starbase.

Execution[]

In Apollo Research, two of Ramos's companions will attack you briefly before they leave the sector. Ignore them and proceed to Nereus Research. There, Tricia Bales will detail the mission. Use this time to fly to the upper part of Nereus Research Station. Two of the eight drones will spawn up by the landing pad.

Once Bales commences the exercise, destroy the two drones that spawn. The other six will spawn two at a time a slight distance from the station. At your position, you can destroy them without having to reposition much. As you destroy your waves of drones, Ramos's drones will automatically explode so you can't truly get ahead of her in the combat. Once you finish off all your drones, you must race her back to starbase. Afterburn or autopilot through the gate.

Ramos's Pegasisters will make a return appearance in Apollo. Ignore them. Afterburn through the Olympus Base gate, and you should beat Ramos by a wide margin.

Trivia[]

  • Destroying Lakita's friends in Apollo Research does not prevent them from spawning again in the same sector on your way back to base.
  • If Ramos wins the mission, Bales gives you dialogue in the debrief screen that implies you killed her. When you actually kill Ramos and return to base, there is no debrief; instead you are sent back directly to the Hangar to retry the mission.
  • Despite Bales telling Logan that completing this mission will grant him future GalSpan work, the mission has no effect on further contracts along the mission timeline.
